People, especially kids, usually don't know what the big fuss about exercise is, and why it's so important. The truth is, exercise is essential to your health, but it doesn't have to be a boring, serious thing. Exercise can be fun!

What is exercise?

Myths about exercise:

- The only way to get really fit is to run and lift weights.

 

This couldn't be farther from the truth! There are so many different and fun ways to exercise, so if you try an exercise and don't like it, you can try another one until you find some that you like to do!

 

- If you are at a healthy weight, you don't have to exercise.

 

Everybody needs to exercise! Exercise is not only about losing weight. You need to exercise to keep your body healthy and running smoothly. Everybody should exercise for 60 minutes everyday.

 

- You can only exercise by yourself.

Exercising with other people is one of the best ways to exercise! You can motivate each other to keep trying your hardest, you can come up with new fun ways to exercise together, and you can make so many friends exercising while playing sports or active games!

WHO: Everybody should exercise!

 

WHAT: Exercise is something you physically do (moving your body) to improve your health and fitness.

 

WHEN: You should exercise for at least 60 minutes everyday. You also don't have to exercise for 60 minutes straight. For example, you could exercise for 20 minutes 3 times throughout the day.

 

WHERE: You can exercise anywhere! A gym, a park, a trail, outside, and in your house are all great places you can work out.

 

WHY: Exercise is such an important thing to do because it really impacts your health. Each time you exercise, you are making your muslces stronger, your heart healthier, and your lungs better!

 

HOW: There are so many different ways to exercise! Some examples are running, biking, walking, sports, and swimming. You can also exercise with other people which can make it so much fun!
